Colostrum: Does it actually work? or is it just a very well-funded marketing campaign?
That’s what I found myself asking after being bombarded by Armra ads on instagram and tiktok.
At The Aphrodite Insider, I’m not here to fall for the hype (unless it’s justified). I’m here to dig in, try it myself, compare labels, stalk the sourcing, and give you the unfiltered, wellness-girlie-meets-ingredient-nerd breakdown.
So this month, I’ll admit, I rolled my eyes a bit when purchasing Armra Colostrum and it’s lesser known competitor Cowboy Colostrum.
But I said I’d give it a shot and compare the two. One’s got the sleek branding and influencer glow-ups. The other I was hopeful for, since it was giving more integrity vibes than sales campaign.
And guess what? Spoiler alert: I am definitely down to ride with Cowoboy Colostrum. (see what I did there…? )
But let’s break down why.
First, Wait—What Even Is Colostrum?
Colostrum is the very first milk produced by mammals after giving birth—packed with immunoglobulins, growth factors, nutrients, and enzymes that help baby mammals survive and thrive.
So why are grown women swirling it into their matcha?
Because colostrum isn’t just for babies.
It’s been shown to support:
*Gut lining repair (hello, leaky gut recovery)
*Skin clarity + glow
*Immune resilience
*Recovery from stress, workouts, or burnout
It’s a powerhouse. And I’m into it. Not only do I love the idea of it helping my immune system stay at its peak, I noticed my nails grew at an incredibly face pace this month. I felt like I was trimming them every week. It was such a tangible result – pointing directly to in the nutrient density of colostrum, given that nothing else changed in my diet or supplement routine.
Armra vs. Cowboy Colostrum: The Highlights
Let’s compare these two through our signature Aphrodite lens: ingredients, sourcing, processing, vibe check.
Ingredient Integrity
Cowboy Colostrum: One ingredient—colostrum.
Armra: Uses colostrum extract, not whole colostrum.
Sourcing & Animal Welfare
Cowboy: Grass-fed, pasture-raised cows from regenerative farms in the U.S. They collect colostrum only after calves have had their fill.
Armra: Also grass-fed, but the transparency around calf-first harvesting isn’t quite as clear.
Processing & Potency
Cowboy: Uses low-heat dehydration, preserving heat-sensitive immunoglobulins and growth factors.
Armra: Utilizes a patented “Cold Chain BioPotent Technology”… which sounds sexy, but they extract just the bioactives and leave the fat and other nutrients behind. It’s more lab-grown wellness than real-food-based nourishment.
Taste & Texture
Cowboy: Tastes like… colostrum. Creamy, mild, slightly earthy. I mix it into my morning smoothies, or even my coffee. It’s not “yum,” but it’s pure.
Armra: Flavored options like Blood Orange and Pineapple—fine if you want colostrum that tastes like a Celsius... but we prefer our bioactives without a tropical twist.
Another reason to love Cowboy?
It’s a female-founder brand (!!)
If you’re colostrum-curious, this is your sign.
Skip the designer packaging and head straight for the gold.
The Aphrodite Insider Verdict: Choose the Cowboy
Armra may have made colostrum cool on Instagram, but Cowboy Colostrum is the one I’m keeping in my cabinet.
