Gimme that

Maybe you’ve had a handful of fertility patients come through your door and thought, “I want to help her more than I currently can.”

Maybe you’ve been practicing for years and feel the pull toward a deeper niche, something that lights you up, challenges you clinically, and genuinely changes lives.

Or maybe you’ve just been sitting with this quiet knowing that fertility acupuncture is where you’re supposed to be, but you have no idea where to start.

That feeling isn’t doubt. It’s direction.

You Don’t Need to Have It All Figured Out First

One of the biggest myths that keeps talented acupuncturists stuck is the idea that you need to already know fertility to start working with fertility patients.

You don’t.

What you need is a willingness to learn, a commitment to going deeper, and a structured path to get there. The practitioners who become the go-to fertility specialists in their communities didn’t start out that way. They started exactly where you are, curious, a little intimidated, and ready to grow.

The difference between where you are now and where you want to be comes down to one thing: training.

What “Fertility Focused” Actually Means

Specializing in fertility acupuncture isn’t just about learning a few new points. It means understanding the full picture your patient is living in, her cycle, her labs, her diagnosis, her emotional state, and her treatment plan with her RE or OB.

A fertility-focused practitioner can:

  • Read a hormone panel and understand what AMH, FSH, LH, E2, and progesterone levels mean for her care
  • Recognize conditions like PCOS, diminished ovarian reserve, luteal phase defect, and endometriosis, and know how acupuncture fits into each
  • Support patients through IVF cycles with confidence, timing treatments around the stim phase, retrieval, and transfer
  • Collaborate meaningfully with reproductive endocrinologists and OBs, becoming a practitioner they actually want to refer to
  • Hold space for the emotional weight of the fertility journey with both clinical authority and genuine compassion

This is the practitioner your community is looking for. And this is exactly what AFAM trains you to become.

Your Roadmap: First Steps into Fertility Acupuncture

If you’re starting from a general practice background, here’s how we recommend building your foundation:

1. Start with the menstrual cycle.

Before IVF protocols and reproductive immunology, get crystal clear on the four phases of the cycle, what’s happening hormonally at each stage, and how acupuncture supports each phase. This is your clinical north star, and everything else builds from here.

2. Learn the labs.

Your fertility patients will come in with bloodwork. AMH, FSH, E2, LH, progesterone, thyroid panels. You don’t need to be a doctor to understand these, but you do need to know what they mean for your treatment plan. This is one of the first things we cover inside AFAM.

3. Get comfortable with Western diagnoses.

PCOS, DOR, endometriosis, tubal factor infertility, unexplained infertility. Start familiarizing yourself with how these are diagnosed, what Western treatment looks like, and where acupuncture fits in as a powerful complement.

4. Find a mentor or structured program.

This is the step that accelerates everything. Going it alone means piecing together information from a dozen different sources and hoping it adds up. A structured mentorship means you have a clear curriculum, real case support, and someone who has already built the practice you’re trying to build showing you exactly how.

That’s Exactly Why AFAM Exists

The Advanced Fertility Acupuncture Mentorship was built for acupuncturists at every stage, including those just starting to explore fertility as a specialty. You don’t need years of fertility experience to enroll. You need curiosity, commitment, and a desire to become truly excellent at this work.

In 42 CEUs, approved for NCCAOM, CALE, and ABORM, you’ll move from foundational fertility knowledge all the way through advanced IVF support, Eastern integration, and live clinical mentorship. By the end, you won’t just think you can help fertility patients. You’ll know you can.
