Think exercising hard is benefitting your fertility? Think again.

We know it can be a hard pill to swallow to hear that doing HIIT or Orange Theory everyday is actually hindering your fertility more than helping it. You may ask, isn’t exercise a good thing?

While it is absolutely important to keep the body moving as a means to increase blood circulation, there can be too much of a good thing.

Excessive exercise like hours of cardio a week, daily HIIT workouts, sweating excessively, exercising as a means to “earn” your food all signal to the nervous system that it should stay in a state of fight-or-flight which can and will significantly impact the state of your fertility. Hormones flow optimally in a stat of rest-and-digest. If the body senses a state of fight or flight it will prioritize saving the host (you) over reproduction. It is a very basic and primal thing we see happen with chronic over-exercisers.

We recommend moderate exercise like pilates tone, yoga, or dance and we’ve built out a fitness studio to offer classes that cater to women TTC, going through IVF or in their pregnancy or postpartum journeys. Schedule you’re first class today.
